5 Reasons to take a tour with Adventure Cat while visiting San Francisco
October 17, 2018
Certain parts of San Francisco look better when viewed from the bay! That’s the main goal of Adventure Cat, a sailing charter company. They have three different types of daily charters to choose from, including the Bay Sail, the Sunset Sail, and the Sail and Jail: Alcatraz trip. I recently had the chance to go on one of their trips. Here are five reasons why I believe you should take a tour with Adventure Cat, whether you live in San Francisco or are just visiting.
1) You Get to See the Bay Bridge at Night
I’ve driven over The Bay Bridge numerous times, but seeing it from the water was a completely new experience. My sail took place at sunset, so I even got to see the bridge all lit up. It was absolutely stunning – and something that I’ll never forget. This was one of the romantic highlights from the cruise. Overall, the cruise lasted for 90 minutes. It took off just as the sun started to set, ensuring that we got to see plenty of the city lights as the time went by.
2) The Area Is Filled with Scenic Vistas
I could go on for days about the amazing views of everything on this trip. The fog rolled in over the Golden Gate Bridge, the Headlands and Sausalito at sunset… it was just magical. The tour stays in the Bay area, starting at Pier 39 where they’re docked, and heading west to the Golden Gate Bridge. We stayed near the city of San Francisco, allowing everyone on board to see the city’s lights from the water.
3) Spacious Catamarans
Unlike other boat tours where you’re loaded onto a large watercraft and herded in with other people, Adventure Cat, true to its name, uses Catamarans. These are double-hulled ships that are fairly small, yet very stable. You can take in the sights from inside of the Catamaran, or from the deck. The Adventure Cat 2 (the name of the boat) was designed by Seattle-based Kurt Hughes Designs, and it hits an average speed of between 9 and 13 miles per hour. This is very comfortable cruising speed :)
4) Their Service is Excellent
Adventure Cat has excellent customer service. Their crew is extremely friendly and even let me drive the catamaran at one point. They offer a huge selection of beverages, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic ones, and even have plenty of snacks. Every ticket includes two beverages and hors d’oeuvres. They also had jackets to lend people when they were cold out on the water. Their goal was to ensure that everyone was left with pleasant memories of the trip!
5) Adventure Cat Has A Lot To Offer
I mentioned some of the tours above, but it needs to be said that they also handle private charters. They also have special events throughout the year, and their audio tours are offered in eight different languages. Their main tours (the ones that are offered frequently) include the Bay, Sunset, and Alcatraz tours. However, they also have special events cruises, such as those for Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day.
I can't recommend it enough!
Thank you Adventure Cat, I truly enjoyed my Adventure Cat Sunset Sail. While the trip was a sponsored post, all opinions are my own.
