Reasons to Stay at the Suvretta House, St Moritz, Switzerland
Suvretta House, located in St. Moritz, Switzerland, has been in business for over 100 years. During that time, it has been managed by six generations of the same family – a feat that not many hotels can match. This alone makes Suvretta House one of a kind, although once you include its beautiful, mountainous location and elegantly appointed rooms, you’ll learn that it truly is unique in the best of ways.
Suvretta House bills itself as the most exclusive hotel in Switzerland for a reason – they are incredibly classy, and have been in business for generations. They truly understand what understated luxury is, and provide a location fit for a queen. This classical hotel, is filled with old world elegance, and I enjoy the step back in time that they provide.
Beyond First Class
The service and accommodations at the Suvretta House go beyond the boundaries of first class. You will be treated like a VIP from the second that you set foot on their property, until the very end of your stay when you are back at the airport. The food is excellent, and there are two different restaurants to choose from – The Grand, which is formal in nature, and The Stube, which is more informal. Make sure to eat at both at least once during your stay.
View of the Alps
Few things compare to the Alps. This impeccable hotel has many views of the mountains, because it is literally located amongst them. If you love to ski, hike, or simply dine with a view (and what a view it is!) then you’ll love the Suvretta House. It is my favorite mountain destination no matter the weather – in both the summer and the winter.
If you love outdoor sports, then this is the place to go. The Suvretta House has its own ski lift and designated slopes located right next the hotel – making them easily accessible. They also have their own ski school, as well as a ski shop complete with equipment rentals right on the property. If you visit during the warmer months of the year, there are tennis courts, a huge swimming pool, a golf course, a kids club, and even a playground. However, if you want to stay indoors, no matter the season, the gym and spa are very well maintained.
This elegant, old world hotel is also family friendly. The ambiance, the spacious, well-decorated rooms (they also have suites) and wonderful atmosphere make it a destination worth visiting. They even have a shuttle service to downtown St. Moritz, where there are plenty of things for a family to do. I will definitely be back!
