Reasons to Stay at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, Rancho Mirage, CA, U.S.A.
The Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa is located in Rancho Mirage, California, near Palm Springs. It has an impressive 444 rooms (including suites), an impressive 20,000 square foot spa for pampering, five restaurants, and a water park on its grounds. There’s also a separate facility that measures 84,000 square feet designated specifically for meetings, conferences, and events, so those who are there attending one of these things won’t necessarily bump into guests there on vacations.
Great Place for Families
It’s easy to keep your kids entertained when there are so many options for them to choose from. You can take them to the water park, called Splashtopia, that features water slides and tube rides. There is also a “lazy river” that they can meander down while on tubes, as well as a small sandy, beach section designed for babies and toddlers. Plus, there’s a special kid’s buffet on the property. (And one caveat: there was room for improvement as far as the adult food was concerned, but it was generally good.) Once your kids are tired from the water park, they can unwind fireside with s’mores, or burn off some additional energy with one of the many kid’s activities that are scheduled all day, every day. I would definitely stay there again with my kids.
Plenty of Space on the Property
It’s always nice when you’re not elbow-to-elbow with your fellow travelers all day long. The Omni Rancho Las Palmas property is huge, making it seem less busy, even when they’re at full capacity. This provides you with the chance to unwind a little as you walk from one activity to another (exercise if always good for you), and there’s an adult pool, located on a different part of the resort from the kid’s pool, and near the Blue Ember restaurant. This is handy for travelers without children. Between the palm trees and the mountains, you’ll never tire of the scenery.
A Golfer and Tennis Lovers Dream
If you enjoy either of these sports, then you’ve found the best resort for your needs. There is a Ted Robinson-designed golf course and 25 tennis courts literally at your door step, but if you don’t want to walk, there are buggies (also known as golf carts) ready and waiting to deliver you to the driver range. There are also golf and hotel packages, making it easy to spend a day on the course during your stay. Of course, if you prefer to exercise indoors, there’s a small gym on the property as well.
Since the resort is located slightly outside of Palm Springs proper, I recommend renting a car. This provides you with the opportunity to take advantage of the many fun and entertaining things to do in Palm Springs. However, there are shops, a theater, and several restaurants right near the resort, within walking distance. (There’s also a CVS, which is handy if you’re traveling with kids or happened to forget an important toiletry or two.)
